Developing the Next Generation of Senior Executives & Cabinet-Level Leadership

The Senior Leadership Academy (SLA) is a year-long program in partnership with the Council of Independent Colleges that prepares experienced administrators for the vice presidency and other senior-level positions.

Program Candidates

SLA is designed for individuals within a CIC member institution with proven leadership experience seeking to advance to an executive leadership role.

What You’ll Experience

Both seminars are led by current presidents, vice presidents, and other senior leaders in higher education as well as experts in key areas. The first seminar is held in November before CIC’s Institute for Chief Academic Officers, with the closing seminar being held the following June in Washington, DC.

Year-long leadership development plan with guidance from your institutional mentor and the AALI President.

Deep work between the seminars centers on personal development of key skills for aspiring provosts/chief academic officers.

Nomination Process

Candidates interested in joining the program must be nominated by their campus executive leader who will also serve as a mentor throughout the program.
